Glen Arthur
A surgical intervention was required on this 'B' listed lower villa
in Edinburgh. The paltry garage extension c.1970 is remodelled as
part of the strategy to open up the house to the garden front and
back. Living space is distillated to the rear by the removal of a
more recent extension in lieu of a curved frameless glass extensiion
which is skewed towards the garden. A lead mantle binds the new composition
to the rear whilst a hydrotherapy bower punctuates and restores life
to the more workaday section of the rear elevation.
